The main focus this summer regarding Liverpool has been on potential new players as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his side for the upcoming season.

The Anfield club are hoping to challenge for the Premier League as well as have a good run in the UEFA Champions League and to do that, they will need to have a capable squad.

The Reds have already signed winger Mohamed Sarah from AS Roma and striker Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and are looking to secure more transfers before the start of the season.

The Premier League club are heavily linked with RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita who is apparently itching for a move to Anfield.

However, Klopp also has to make reductions to his squad by selling players who he feels are not part of his plans for the upcoming season.

Here we take a look at potential players who could be walking out of the Anfield club this summer.

Mamadou Sakho

The French centre-back has fallen heavily out of favour at Anfield and has been linked with a permanent move to fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace following his successful loan spell with the Eagles last season. However, Palace are not ready to meet Liverpool’s valuation of £30m but there are other European clubs interested in the defender. Liverpool are confident that they will offload Sakho to help fund a move for another centre-back.

Alberto Moreno

It is no secret that Liverpool are desperately trying to sign a left-back this summer. The fact that Moreno couldn’t hold down the first team left-back spot ahead of midfielder James Milner says everything about what Klopp thinks of him. The Reds rejected an £11m offer for the left-back from Serie A side Napoli as the club want to sell him for at least £15m. Should no side offer that money, then it is believed that Liverpool will sell him for less as they look to other options in the left-back position.

Lucas Leiva

The Brazilian has found it hard to get regular matches under Klopp as he only started 12 games in the Premier League for the Reds last season. Should Liverpool sign Naby Keita and a new centre back, then that would all but end Lucas’ time at Anfield as the 30-year-old would consider moving elsewhere for more game time. Lazio are reported to be interested in Lucas as well as Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Lazar Markovic

The Anfield club are hoping to offload Markovic for a fee of £12m as Klopp looks to rebuild his squad. The Serbian enjoyed a loan spell at relegated Hull City and new Watford boss Marco Silva is hoping to reunite with the player at the Hornets. Markovic joined Liverpool for £20m from Benfica but has failed to impress and has only made 34 appearances for the club in the past three seasons.

Kevin Stewart

The 23-year-old midfielder has been on the fringes as his Liverpool career stalled last season. The midfielder looked like a good option for manager Jurgen Klopp to use as a substitute or in the so called ‘smaller games’ but Stewart has failed to make an impact. He will be seriously considering his options as he nears his 24th birthday without yet being a regular player at a club. The Reds value Stewart at £12m but may have to settle for less if they are to sell him. Swansea and Newcastle are reported to be monitoring his situation.
