Liverpool target Handanovic opens up on future
The goalkeeper position has been a problem for Liverpool in the Jurgen Klopp era as their struggling defence continues to make the headlines.
Loris Karius was brought in last summer to compete with and ideally eventually overtake Simon Mignolet as the club’s number one goalkeeper but the German has struggled and repeated made costly errors between the sticks.
For the time being, Mignolet remains the club’s number one and has done fine this season but if Liverpool were offered an upgrade they’d heavily consider one.
One goalkeeper the Reds are supposedly interested in is Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper is contracted to the Serie A club until the end of the 2018/19 season but he’s revealed that he’s not sure he’ll stay at Inter beyond that.
I don’t know if I’ll end my career here. My only objective is to play until I am 40, then we’ll see what happen in the future. Now is it time for Inter to step up and make this club return where it belongs. We’ve made some improvements but the next month will be decisive, Inter have done nothing yet.
The Slovenia international is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe’s top leagues at the moment and would be an excellent addition to the Liverpool side, providing them with a safe and reliable pair of hands in goal.
