There was yet more frustration at Anfield on Wednesday night as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw against West Brom.
After failing to see off Everton at the weekend, Jurgen Klopp would have been hoping to get back on track against Alan Pardew’s men.
The Reds pushed for a goal against a resilient West Brom side but were unable to break the deadlock as they lacked any real quality in the final third.
Here’s how we rated each player’s performance after the game.
Loris Karius - 6
Karius wasn’t tested too much but made a couple of nice saves when he needed to.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7
The youngster got forward really well and contributed to the attack, but was taken off in the final stages.
Dejan Lovren - 6
The Croatian defended well and alongside his fellow central defender, managed the threats West Brom posed well.
Ragnar Klavan - 7
Klavan was equally impressive against Alan Pardew’s men, looking assured at the back.
Andrew Robertson - 6
Robertson struggled to get involved in the game, he offered a threat going forward but the Reds were unable to make it count.
Gini Wijnaldum - 5
A lack of creativity from both Wijnaldum and Can hampered Liverpool going forward.
Emre Can - 5
The German midfielder was not at the races on Wednesday night and did not have the greatest of games.
Philippe Coutinho - 6
Coutinho was one of Liverpool’s better options going forward but he was unable to have a huge impact against a resilient West Brom side.
Sadio Mane - 5
Mane did not have a great day at the office on Wednesday night. The winger was unable to settle in the game and was subbed off after an unusually poor performance.
Mo Salah - 6
Another who looked like the game was just a little too much for him after the Merseyside Derby.
Roberto Firmino - 6
The Brazilian was Liverpool’s biggest threat going forward but he was unable to find a way back Foster in goal.
Subs:
Dominic Solanke – 6, did well to make an impact off the bench and had a goal disallowed.
Joe Gomez – 5, came on to replace Alexander-Arnold and put himself about in the final moments.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5, He was brought on to try and make an impact but should have come off the bench earlier.
