Claude Puel’s record as a manager against Liverpool is very good but Jurgen Klopp and his team will be looking to change that narrative as Leicester come to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
After a comprehensive win against Swansea, the Reds will be looking for six more points in just three days as Liverpool host the Foxes before travelling to Turf Moor to face Burnley jut 48 hours later.
Rotation of the squad will be necessary in both games, but Klopp insists that he’ll only have an eye on the Leicester game, and that he’ll decide on his Burnley line-up when he knows who is, and who isn’t, fit.
With all that in mind, here is the XI I think he’ll pick to face Jamie Vardy and co.
Loris Karius could see action in one of these two upcoming games but I think Klopp will stick with Mignolet for this one.
I think Klopp will not want to play Trent Alexander-Arnold at Burnley, so he’ll keep Joe Gomez on the bench here and save him for Turf Moor.
Matip has only recently returned to full fitness and he might not get through both games but I think he’ll start against Leicester…
… as will Dejan Lovren. Ragnar Klavan has looked good recently and I think he’ll play at Burnley.
With Alberto Moreno injured, Robertson will continue at left-back.
With Jordan Henderson out injured, I think Klopp will use Emre Can as the number six here.
Klopp will want a lot of energy in midfield and as such, I think he’ll stick with Wijnaldum too.
He was fantastic from the left against Swansea but I think Klopp will use Coutinho in midfield in this game.
Got a well-earned break against the Swans, which it looked like he needed after some iffy moments against Everton, West Brom and Arsenal. Hopefully he’ll be fit and firing for this one.
The Premier League’s main man at the moment. He’s played a lot recently and understandably so. I think Klopp will be targeting three points for sure and as such, he’ll go full strength so Salah plays.
Firmino is in great form too. I think he’ll start this one then get a break against Burnley.
