Liverpool target Kevin Trapp frustrated with PSG role
Liverpool were reportedly among a host of Premier League clubs said to be interested in signing Kevin Trapp from PSG but the Ligue 1 leaders were unwilling to part ways with their backup goalkeeper.
Trapp spent his first two seasons in Paris as their undisputed No.1 ‘keeper following a £8.5m move from Eintracht Frankfurt but he has been usurped by Frenchman Alphonse Areola in the 2017/18 campaign, making just eight appearances to date and just two in Ligue 1.
As quoted by ESPN, Trapp has revealed that he is not satisfied with his situation at PSG currently amid speculation that Borussia Dortmund could make a summer bid to bring the Germany international back to the Bundesliga.
You can consider a lot. I am from Germany, so, sure, the Bundesliga is interesting, and Dortmund are a big club. However, the transfer window has just ended, and that is not an issue right now. I want to focus on my tasks here.
A move always must make sense and after speaking with those in charge here, it was just the better step to stay in Paris. I work hard every day, and I want to come out on top. Sure, the situation is not satisfying, but I had good talks with Unai Emery.
The same report states that Trapp confirms that Premier League clubs did make offers for him in January but PSG didn’t want to lose him mid-way through the season. Along with Liverpool, Newcastle have been credited with an interest in Trapp.
