Liverpool youngster Liam Millar is said to be closing in on a move to League One side Sunderland.

Millar, who was in fine form for the club’s Under-18 and Under-19 sides throughout the course of last season, is claimed by the Northern Echo to be on the verge of arriving at the Stadium of Light.

The Canadian international has often been tipped for big things on Merseyside but it seems in his efforts to accelerate his pursuit of first-team football, he will swap Liverpool for Sunderland.

It’s thought that Millar will initially become a member of the Black Cats’ youth setup, but there are plans in place for him to be integrated into the first-team under Jack Ross if he impresses.

The 18-year-old attacker was in fine form last term and scored a total of 19 goals in all competitions.

His impressive form at youth level with the Reds earned him a shock debut on the international stage with Canada, as he featured in his country’s clash with New Zealand earlier this year.
