Sadio Mane set to take Liverpool’s number 10 shirt
Sadio Mane is set to switch his shirt number at Liverpool and become the club’s new number ten.
We understand that Mane, who wears the number ten jersey for Senegal, has asked to take the number that was left vacant when Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona in January.
Mane, who also wore the number ten at Southampton, will likely have to follow in Roberto Firmino’s footsteps by offering some type of gesture to fans who have already purchased a new Liverpool shirt with the number 19 on the back.
Last year, Firmino switched from number 11 to number 9, and fans who’d purchased shirts from the official club store with ‘Firmino 11’ on them were invited to send them in and the Brazilian signed them all. Whilst not confirmed, it would make sense for Mane to offer a similar gesture to those who’ve purchased a ‘Mane 19’ jersey
The change could be a hint that Nabil Fekir, who was set to become Liverpool’s number ten, will not be arriving this summer.
