Southampton have made a late push to sign Danny Ings, right on the stroke of the 5pm deadline.

Saints have been working on the deal all day but things went right to the deadline, but they managed to get the initial deal sheet submitted by 5pm.

That means they now have until 7pm to submit all of the relevant paperwork to complete the deal.

The move will initially be a loan, but, Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph reports that Saints will be obligated to buy the striker in the summer.

Ings was keen to move in order to get more first-team football, so one would assume that he’s been given some assurances by Mark Hughes that he would feature a fair amount for the Saints.
