Liverpool and Besiktas have reportedly entered negotiations regarding a possible loan move for Loris Karius.

The Turkish giants have been heavily linked with a swoop for the goalkeeper this month but according to the Mirror, have now held talks with Liverpool over a deal for the out of favour German.

Karius’ position at Liverpool is under intense scrutiny following the arrival of Alisson from Roma, with a backup role likely to be the largest part he’ll play under Jurgen Klopp this season.

With the former Mainz star’s confidence still understood to be critically low following his two mistakes against Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League final, Klopp is understood by the Mirror to be willing to let Karius go.

Besiktas, who offloaded Fabri to Fulham earlier on in the summer, are chasing the signing of a goalkeeper this summer and have evidently identified Karius as an option on loan, with a view to a potential permanent move.

It was, however, reported earlier on in the week that the Super Lig outfit would be reluctant to pay a loan fee for Karius’ services.
