Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is expecting Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to enjoy yet another impressive campaign in the Premier League.

The Eagles manager spoke to the media ahead of his side’s clash against the Reds at Selhurst Park on Monday night and, as quoted by Sky Sports, was quizzed on whether he felt Salah would be able to replicate last season’s heroics.

There’s no doubt in my mind that he will be good this season because of the qualities he possesses.

Hodgson alluded to the heights of expectations and demands that will now surround Salah’s role for the Reds but was full of praise for the Egyptian and his Liverpool teammates.

But of course for him and his club, people will keep cranking up expectations and that’s not a great thing to have to deal with either for the player or the club.

You’re playing against players who cost a lot of money, players who have a very strong pedigree, players whose technical ability is very good, whose physical capacity is good.

Crystal Palace won their opening day fixture against Fulham with an impressive 2-0 victory. Liverpool, however, also secured three points on the first weekend of the Premier League season, sweeping aside West Ham with a 4-0 win.

Former Liverpool boss Hodgson is evidently expecting a difficult test for his side when Jurgen Klopp’s side come to Selhurst Park on Monday but will be hoping to see his men keep the Reds’ attacking force at bay.

I don’t know that you can necessarily stop them for 90 minutes from getting anywhere near your goal – that might be too strong an objective.

But we hope we can keep them quiet enough for us to get enough of the ball and cause them enough problems to get a result in the game, it really isn’t more complicated than that.

Will Salah find the net against Palace?
