No new contract talks for Andy Robertson
Liverpool will not be entering new contract talks with defender Andy Robertson anytime soon, despite conflicting reports suggesting otherwise.
It had been claimed that the Scottish international will pen a new deal that would see his wages at Anfield doubled, but that is not the case, according to the Liverpool Echo.
They report that the defender is currently on a ‘heavily incentivised’ contract with the Reds, so they see no reason to enter talks over a new deal.
It is claimed that the earliest stage for the club to reevaluate the defender’s situation would be at the end of the season.
Robertson was one of the star performers for Liverpool towards the end of last season, which prompted talk of a new deal.
Given the incentivises that are in his contract, the defender is likely to be on improved terms should he continue at the rate of development he has done in recent months.
