Carragher praises “brilliant buy” Shaqiri
Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher heaped praise on new signing Xherdan Shaqiri, whom he labelled a ‘brilliant buy’, according to Sky Sports.
Liverpool signed Shaqiri in a cut-price deal from relegated Stoke City in the summer, having missed out on French forward Nabil Fekir. The Swiss has so far only appeared twice for the Reds, against West Ham and Leicester City.
The forward also put in stellar performances during the World Cup and in the current international break, having scored an excellent free kick in the 6-0 rout of Iceland, also hitting the post once.
Reds legend Carragher stated that Shaqiri’s experience being around big clubs should serve him well in his time at Liverpool, adding that his age and transfer fee mean he’ll definitely make some sort of impact, citing his performance against Leicester City, as the Reds secured a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium to maintain their 100% start to their domestic season.
