Jamie Carragher has given his opinion of Liverpool summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri and believes that the Swiss international was a “brilliant” buy for Jurgen Klopp’s side, the Daily Mirror reports.
Shaqiri has only played 27 minutes for Liverpool so far this season, after coming off the bench twice in four Premier League outings.
Previously at Stoke City, Liverpool triggered Shaqiri’s £13million release clause this summer.
Two months after completing his move from the Potters to join the Reds, Carragher praised Shaqiri’s impact on Liverpool’s League performances so far this season despite his few minutes.
I think it’s a brilliant buy for Liverpool. He’s been around a long time at big clubs and has great experience.
You look at the price tag, his age as well, he will (make an impact). He made an impact at Leicester when he came on.
If Salah comes off, is he ever going to replace him?
I don’t think he will replace him as a starter but to bring him off and bring him on.
He did make a difference when he came on (against Leicester). He plays more centrally for Switzerland, so maybe that’s something going forward for Liverpool also.
He’ll want to put himself in the limelight because of the huge games coming up for Liverpool in the next month and he will want to be a part of it.
