Juventus midfielder and German international Sami Khedira has explained why he snubbed moves to Manchester United and Liverpool in order to sign a new deal in Turin.
The former Real Madrid man was tentatively linked with a move to Anfield when it became clear that Juventus were set to sign Emre Can.
It was claimed that the experienced German could replace his fellow countryman at Liverpool, with game time being predicted to dwindle in Turin following the arrival of the 24-year-old.
However, the Old Lady recently confirmed that he has extended his contract with the club as he prepares to remain in Turin for the foreseeable future.
It’s my fourth year [at Juventus] and I’m going to stay here for a long time, that’s why I renewed my contract, it’s enough to go out on the street or to the stadium to understand what it means to wear this special shirt, you have to fight and take it with pride, so I’m very happy that we managed to find a new deal for the next few years so that I can continue to play for Juventus.
Khedira instead opted to remain at Juventus as they bid to lift the Champions League trophy that has alluded them in recent seasons.
