Liverpool will continue their Champions League campaign with a tricky away game against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on Tuesday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were slightly disappointing in their 1-1 draw at Arsenal and will be aiming to better their performance at the Emirates in order to get three points in Europe.
They are up against a team who haven’t lost a home game for over a year now, including the match-day one fixture against Napoli. Hence, it is clear that the Reds won’t find it easy in one of the most hostile environments in the competition.
As for the team news, Liverpool welcome Naby Keita and Dejan Lovren back and they travelled with the squad. Captain Jordan Henderson is very close to returning but he will start full training once the team gets back from Serbia. Xherdan Shaqiri didn’t travel due to political reasons.
Here’s how we think Jurgen Klopp will line his team up for the game:
The Brazilian remains in goal. He will be aiming to keep a clean sheet in a tough venue.
Joe Gomez (RB)
Trent Alexander-Arnold looked a bit short on confidence against Arsenal. Hence, we are likely to see Gomez switching to right-back.
Dejan Lovren (CB)
The Croat is back in the squad and should start.
Virgil van Dijk (CB)
Virgil van Dijk’s presence has helped Liverpool’s defence in a massive way. The Dutchman will be hoping to keep a clean sheet after conceding late on against Arsenal.
Andy Robertson (LB)
The Scot plays every game for the Reds unless there is an injury of fatigue issue.
Georginio Wijnaldum (CDM)
Wijnaldum wasn’t at his best against the Gunners. He should do better in Belgrade.
James Milner (LCM)
He was back fully fit by playing the 90 minutes on Saturday. With Henderson out, and Keita expected to be on the bench at the most, we should see Milner in action tomorrow.
Adam Lallana (RCM)
With no Xherdan Shaqiri in the squad, we are likely to see Lallana starting.
Mohamed Salah (RF)
The Egyptian will be aiming for a repeat of what he did when these two teams met at Anfield.
Roberto Firmino (ST)
Firmino has been slightly off-colour this season. Liverpool will be hoping he comes back to form sooner rather than later.
Sadio Mane (LF)
Mane has been in decent form in front of goal. He will be aiming to keep that going.
