Enter matchday six of the Champions League and we have a crunch game on our hands. Liverpool face Napoli in a game where permutations are aplenty, and the potential to celebrate or have your heart broken is as tangible as it gets.
The Reds need a 1-0 win or a two-goal win if the Italians score at Anfield tomorrow. Any other winning scoreline won’t be enough for them unless Red Star Belgrade beat PSG.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are now top of the Premier League table, hence, the confidence is beckoning and with the Anfield crowd behind them, we are in for a special night on Merseyside.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be a tough proposition to beat though. They are a team full of experienced players with a manager who has won this competition on numerous occasions.
For Liverpool, Sadio Mane is back fit to feature from the start, while Dejan Lovren will be assessed prior to the game.
Here’s how we think Klopp could line his team up:
The Brazilian is a colossus in goal for the Reds. There will be a moment when his save could turn the game around.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold
He was rested for the game against Bournemouth, hence, he should be fresh and raring to go against Napoli.
CB: Joel Matip
The Cameroonian looked in good shape against the Cherries. With Gomez out and Lovren doubtful, he will partner van Dijk.
CB: Virgil van Dijk
The Dutchman is an irreplaceable component in the team. His presence at the back is so crucial.
LB: Andy Robertson
His energy down the left flank will be useful against a fast team like Napoli.
CDM: Jordan Henderson
The captain didn’t start against Bournemouth, perhaps due to the fact that he will start on Tuesday night.
CM: Naby Keita
Keita has been a breath of fresh air in midfield in the past two games. Liverpool will be hoping for more of the same from him in the coming game.
CM: Gini Wijnaldum
Wijnaldum’s presence in midfield will help the team to be physically strong and aid their pressing game.
RW: Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian was at his menacing best against the Cherries. If he continues in that vein, Napoli defenders will have a hard time.
LW: Sadio Mane
Klopp confirmed that he is in better shape now, hence, he is expected to start tomorrow.
ST: Roberto Firmino
The Brazilian was slowly getting back to his best in the game on Saturday. More of the same on Tuesday would be great.
