Klopp calls Mourinho world’s most successful manager
Jurgen Klopp has named Manchester United boss José Mourinho the most successful manager in the world.
The Reds host United at Anfield on Sunday, where Klopp’s side are 16 points ahead of sixth placed Red Devils.
Despite Mourinho firing shots at Klopp on Friday, claiming that trophies matter and Klopp’s time at Liverpool will be judged on the amount he has won, Klopp named Mourinho as one of the best managers of all time.
Mourinho has struggled this season, with United’s supposed refusal to heavily invest in the summer a key issue. However, Klopp still took time to praise the Portuguese coach before Sunday’s clash, quoted by the Independent as saying:
Manchester United never ever show a lack of ambition. Mourinho is the most successful manager in the world and that’s how it is.
Klopp continued to say that he is wary of United’s threat and pedigree, despite the fact that they are a way off competing for the Premier League title. He continued:
I’ve never been interested in the points of Manchester United. I’m aware of the criticism but we switch off because there’s a lot of quality, speed and technique and they have pretty much everything.
[David De Gea] in goal. [Marcus] Rashford and [Romelu] Lukaku, [Jesse] Lingard too are unbelievable. We don’t judge the points they have, just the quality.
