Liverpool continued their charge in the league with a resounding 5-1 win over Arsenal at Anfield.

A Roberto Firmino hattrick, backed up by goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, was enough to demolish a hapless Gunners side.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a goal that gave the away side a lead in the 14th minute, however, that advantage lasted just three minutes.

Firmino equalised after a mishap at the back for Unai Emery’s men. The Brazilian was a joke in on the act two minutes later, when Mane won the ball back from Lucas Torreira. The aforementioned goalscorer then went on for a mazy run, and dribbled past both Arsenal centre-backs to slot home the finish.

Mane made it three in the 32nd minute after the Gunners kept Salah onside in the second phase after a corner. The Egyptian then neatly teed up the Senegalese star to score his goal.

Salah then won a penalty at the stroke of half-time and converted it himself. A push on Dejan Lovren midway through the second half gifted another penalty to the Reds. This time Firmino stepped up and scored to complete his hattrick.
