Liverpool set to announce recall of Woodburn
Liverpool are expected to officially confirm the recall of Ben Woodburn has from his loan spell at Sheffield United, The Star reports.
The teenager has been on a season-long loan with the Championship side but that loan is set to be cut short after a frustrating couple of months with the Blades.
Woodburn has made just one league start this season for the South Yorkshire side as he has failed to establish himself as a regular for the club who currently sit third in the Championship table.
Despite the lack of playing time for Woodburn this season, the relationship between the Blades and Liverpool remains a good one with United boss Chris Wilder allowing the youngster to feature for the Reds’ development squad back in October.
Wilder spoke back then of Woodburn’s progress and insisted that despite not being a regular he will still have learned a lot from his time at the club:
It’s part and parcel of football and, no matter what happens, Ben will be all the better for his time with us. You have to learn about all aspects of it, the good and the adversity, to have a long and successful professional career.
He hasn’t done anything wrong.Just as the boys who have been playing haven’t either.
