Liverpool’s ability to handle the pressure and deal with emotion will be key in the Premier League title race, according to Gary Neville.

The Reds find themselves four points clear of Manchester City with 15 games remaining.

Pep Guardiola’s side have found an ominous level of form, however, and it is clear they will not be going away between now and May.

Liverpool are famed for being a club that thrives on passion and emotion, as is the charismatic Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, Neville believes the way in which they hold their nerve as a collective, coupled with City’s vast experience, could decide the eventual victor:

The emotion surrounding a Liverpool title run-in, like we saw a few years ago, is going to come again.

It’s a huge club, having not won it for well over 25 years and the fact it means so much, Jurgen Klopp brings that sort of passion too… that moment is coming to come where it gets really ramped up.

I interviewed Klopp a few weeks ago and he plays it down, but he’s been here before with Dortmund. A lot of the players haven’t, a lot haven’t been through a title run-in with Liverpool.

City will want to play on their experience and composure and it does count, but you’ve got to be in there, neck and neck, and City will want to make sure going into April and May, the last six or seven games, Liverpool are under the maximum pressure, which means level or just in front.

Then Liverpool will have a lot of questions to answer.

Every hurdle that stands before the Reds is currently being cleared, as highlighted by Saturday’s nervy 4-3 win over Crystal Palace.

The pressure is about to go up another notch, though, and Liverpool’s title credentials will be tested to the hilt upon their return from a training camp in Dubai.
