Liverpool player ratings: Leicester City (H)
Liverpool blew their opportunity to go seven points clear at the top by only managing a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at Anfield. Sadio Mane scored the goal for the home side and Harry Maguire equalised for the visitors.
In a fast start, the Reds got the lead inside three minutes when some good play on the left-hand side of the box led to Mane getting possession in a tiny bit of space. The Senegalese star then did well to conjure a low shot towards the goal to give his team the lead.
The Foxes were a bit lucky to not go down by man when Maguire fouled the aforementioned goalscorer when it looked like he was the last defender. But, referee Martin Atkinson only gave a yellow card.
Then Maguire scored the equalising goal for the visitors when during the second phase of a free-kick, the offside line of Liverpool was all over the place and the centre-back had an easy tap in at the far post.
Jurgen Klopp’s men should have had a penalty when Naby Keita was clipped by Ricardo Pereira, but the referee didn’t deem it as a spot kick offence.
At the end of the day, it is two points dropped for the hosts, and they are now five points clear at the top.
