Liverpool return to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield to take them back at the top of the table.
Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah scored the goal for Jurgen Klopp’s who responded well after dropping points in the previous two games.
Mid-way in the first half, the Reds scored the opener from the second phase of a corner. James Milner whipped a lovely cross in the box for Mane to attack and give his team the lead.
In the 34th minute, a good run from midfield from Wijnaldum was well spotted by Andy Robertson. The Dutchman then did very well to get the ball under his control and scoop it past Artur Boruc. It was a delightful finish from the Liverpool midfielder.
Few minutes after the restart, a lovely ball from Naby Keita freed up Roberto Firmino, who back-heeled it into the path of Salah to score unerringly.
Perhaps, the only disappointment for them would be not scoring more goals. But all in all, a very solid win for the Reds.
Here’s how we rated their performances:
Alisson - 6
Didn’t have to do too much in the game. Made one smart stop early on.
James Milner - 7
A real menace to Bournemouth defenders down the right-hand side and a lovely cross for Mane’s goal.
Joel Matip - 7
Apart from a couple of iffy moments, Matip was solid throughout.
Virgil van Dijk - 7
The Dutchman was a solid presence at the back for the Reds.
Andy Robertson - 8
Made some fantastic tackles while defending and kept moving forward to trouble the opposition. His pass for the Wijnaldum goal was superb.
Fabinho - 7
He was at his calm best in midfield. Winning duels, passing crisply and keeping the midfield dominant.
Georginio Wijnaldum - 8
A welcome presence in midfield for the Reds. Scored a fantastic goal and was strong in the central area. Subbed off for Alexander-Arnold later on.
Naby Keita - 7
Didn’t over-complicate his game today and looked a much better prospect. His pass to Firmino in the build-up of the third goal was outstanding.
Mohamed Salah - 8
He was always a threat coming from the right-hand side. The Egyptian scored his customary Anfield goal linking up superbly with Firmino.
Roberto Firmino - 8
Started the game little slowly but picked up the baton in the second half. A beautiful assist for Salah and some lovely play. Subbed off later for Daniel Sturridge.
Sadio Mane - 8
Scored again today – his fourth in last four games. The Senegalese star gave everything off the ball as well, which is a feature of his game. Subbed off later on for Divock Origi.
(SUB) Divock Origi - 5
Came on for the last few minutes and had one chance, but defenders came swarming at him to stop the shot.
(SUB) Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6
Returning from injury and playing the last 15 minutes was ideal game management. The youngster looked sharp.
