Liverpool target Nabil Fekir has made ‘advances’ over a contract extension with Lyon, according to club president Jean-Michel Aulas, the Mirror report.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of joining the Reds in the summer, however, his proposed £53 million move to Anfield fell through.
Jurgen Klopp decided against adding to his squad in January, however, Fekir reportedly remains a target for Liverpool.
Premier League rivals Chelsea have also been monitoring Fekir’s situation and were considering making a move for the French international in January.
Fekir has found the back of the net 11 times this season and netted the winner against Guingamp on Friday night.
And Auras has addressed Fekir’s current contract situation with the club, revealing advances have been made over a contract extension.
We have made some advances in Fekir’s contract extension, we are discussing it and soon I’ll have to see Nabil, we aren’t in the final stages but in any case we have advanced.
If Fekir does sign an extension with Lyon, the Reds may well face a trickier task in bringing the playmaker to Anfield in the summer.
