Liverpool return to action after a 10-day break with a blockbuster game in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men got the better of Bournemouth in their previous game and went away on a four-day trip to Marbella for the training camp.
The trip was more about getting injured/ill players back to full fitness and make the players ready for the business end of this season.
This is an important week for Liverpool, as a huge league game against Manchester United awaits at the weekend. However, as Klopp says, they will concentrate on the games one by one and not look too far ahead.
In terms of the injury updates, Dejan Lovren missed training, as did Roberto Firmino, Xherdan Shaqiri trained and looks good, same is the case with Georginio Wijnaldum.
Here’s how we think Klopp may line his team up tomorrow:
He has started every Champions League game this season. We predict him to continue that trend on Tuesday.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold
Played 15 minutes against Bournemouth after recovering from injury and then got a 10-day break to get back into good shape. We predict that the Englishman should be fit to start this game.
CB: Joel Matip
The Cameroonian star is the only available centre-back for this game, hence why nobody will ask questions regarding his place in the team.
With Van Dijk, Gomez and Lovren out, we predict that we will see Fabinho partnering Matip in central defence. Klopp gave a strong hint regarding that in the presser.
LB: Andy Robertson
He is the undisputed first-choice left-back in the team and has started every Champions League game. The Scotland captain is probably one of the first names on the playing eleven.
CDM: Jordan Henderson
The captain will have a tough job protecting a make-shift back-line against a quality Bayern attack. Liverpool fans would be hoping for him to be at his best.
RCM: Georginio Wijnaldum
If fit, the Dutchman is plausibly the first name on the teamsheet these days. He could be a key player in midfield tomorrow night.
LCM: Naby Keita
The Guinean international knows about Bayern while playing for RB Leipzig until last season. Hence why he should use that knowledge to his advantage tomorrow.
LW: Sadio Mane
The Senegalese star has been in fantastic form, scoring in all of the past four games. He would be aiming to cause problems to the Bayern defence.
FWD: Roberto Firmino
He is at his best playing the false nine role and working hard to create space for the other runners. The Brazilian will be looking to knit attacks together and give headaches to Bayern defenders.
However, if he is out with illness, we predict that Shaqiri will play out wide and Mo Salah will start up front.
RW: Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian star had a fantastic record in the knockout rounds of the Champions League last season. If he manages to come closer to those returns, the Reds may go deep in this competition.
