Despite not making any signings back in January, Liverpool have continued their impressive campaign in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit top of the Premier League, two points clear of Manchester City who have a game in hand.
The Reds are also into the last eight of Europe’s top competition after a fine last 16 win against Bayern Munich and will face off against FC Porto in the last eight next month.
However, even though the season is entering its vital business stage, Liverpool officials will already be working closely with Klopp in preparation for the summer transfer window.
And with Klopp revealing earlier this month that the Reds don’t need to spend big this summer, we’ve decided to take a look at five players who Liverpool could potentially bring to Anfield without spending a penny.
Former Chelsea left-back Luis looks set to be available on a free transfer this summer. Luis currently plies his trade with Atletico Madrid and has been labelled as one of the best left-backs in Europe.
If Liverpool are keen on signing the 32-year-old, they may well face fierce competition from Barcelona, who are thought to be hoping to sign the Brazilian at the end of the season.
Porto midfielder Herrera will more than likely leave the Portuguese giants on a free transfer this summer.
The Mexico international has been linked with Tottenham, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Inter Milan in recent months, so the Reds could face a tough battle in securing the services of the no-nonsense midfielder this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Rabiot looks set to leave Ligue 1 in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool for the majority of the season.
The likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also now monitoring Rabiot’s current situation and the Frenchman looks set to be a man in demand over the coming months.
Brahimi has been in fine form this season for Porto. The 29-year-old has found the back of the net on 10 occasions during the current campaign and his performances have caught the eye of Everton and West Ham.
Porto are thought to readying a new contract offer for the forward, however, Reds boss Klopp could well see the Algerian as a shrewd signing for next season.
Despite currently plying his trade for Manchester United, Herrera, who has been a standout performer under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, could be an option for Klopp.
The Spaniard’s contract does expire in the summer and with interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Herrera has yet to commit his future to United.
It looks extremely unlikely, but Klopp could well see Herrera as a potential option to bolster the Reds’ midfield options for next season.
