Virgil van Dijk has had his say on what Jurgen Klopp is really like behind closed doors and praises the Liverpool manager’s passion and honesty.
Klopp is known for his animated personality on the sideline and in interviews, and by the sounds of it that extends into his team meetings too.
Speaking to the BBC’s Premier League Show, as cited by the Daily Mirror, van Dijk opened up about what Klopp is like away from the cameras.
He is very passionate. He will tell you the truth at all times. He won’t go beating about the bush. That’s something I personally like a lot and most of our players like it as well. We have plenty of meetings throughout the whole season where he is definitely not happy about some things. That’s a good sign. Even when we’ve only lost one league game all season there have been some moments where we can do much better.
Despite not yet winning any silverware at Anfield, the German boss has delivered a style of ‘heavy metal football’ and has Liverpool challenging for trophies.
The Reds have reached finals of the Carabao Cup, Europa League and Champions League since he took charge almost four years ago, and now the club are two points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Albeit Manchester City having a game in hand, Liverpool will take confidence into the league run-in and if Van Dijk and Co. can keep up their incredible form, the sky truly is the limit.
