As we embark on the final fixtures of the season, Liverpool welcome Tottenham in a crunch Premier League clash At Anfield on Sunday evening.
The Reds are currently two points clear at the top of the table, having played a game more than Manchester City. They could kick off tomorrow being a point behind, as we expect City to get the better of Fulham in the Saturday lunchtime kickoff.
With the margin of error negligible in this title race, every game is a must-win for the Merseysiders.
Facing Tottenham is always tough for any opponent as they possess the quality to turn up and produce a match-winning effort. Hence, this will be quite a stern test for Liverpool.
In terms of the team news, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Xherdan Shaqiri and Joe Gomez are back in full training.
Here’s how we think the manager may line his team up:
GK - Alisson
Liverpool’s first-choice ‘keeper is the first name on the team-sheet.
RB - Trent Alexander-Arnold
He returned to full training on Friday and is expected to be fit for Sunday.
CB - Joel Matip
Even though Dejan Lovren and Gomez are back, Matip has done a good job in their absence. Hence, I expect the Cameroon international to keep his place.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
He is an irreplaceable cog in the team and fully expected to start on Sunday.
LB - Andy Robertson
The Scotland captain is Liverpool’s number one left-back and another easy start.
RCM - Georginio Wijnaldum
The Dutchman has been a consistent figure in the team this season.
CDM - Fabinho
The Brazilian international has been superb form of later in that defensive midfield role. Therefore, Klopp should call his number again.
LCM - James Milner
A full two-week off for Milner as he is not involved in internationals, meaning he would be fresh for the clash.
RW - Mohamed Salah
Another player who didn’t play during the international break. With a mini-break behind him, the Egyptian star would be raring to end his scoring slump.
ST - Roberto Firmino
Firmino’s form has improved in the past few games for Liverpool and he scored for Brazil in the international break as well. He would be aiming to trouble the Tottenham defence tomorrow.
LW - Sadio Mane
The Senegalese star is probably the in-form player in Europe. Spurs defenders should be wary of him!
