Liverpool fans will have held out a glimmer of hope on Sunday afternoon when the final games of the season rolled around, but in reality, it was always Manchester City’s title.

To go a full season and lose only once is a truly incredible achievement from the Reds.

Despite the upset and the anguish as the question of ‘what could’ve been’ pops up, Liverpool must remember that their time will come.

This is the first serious title charge that the club have launched under Jurgen Klopp and it sets them up nicely for not only next season but the many years to come.

The squad as a whole will learn from this season and still have the opportunity to get their hands on a major European trophy and as shown by, the Reds are favourites to beat Tottenham in the Champions League final at the start of next month.

With a core group of young players, this season will have shown Liverpool what they need to do to win and how tough it can be to compete at the very top level, something that will stand them in good stead if they find themselves in a similar position this time next season.

Should Jurgen Klopp go on to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window, you can imagine they will be right among the favourites both domestically and in Europe once again.
