Just last week, Liverpool were linked with a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele but rivals Manchester United now look to be in pole position to sign the forward as they’ve made an official offer for him.
As reported by Benjamin Quarez of Goal, United have made a bid worth around £40 for the French U21 international.
Dembele, who has played on British soil before; representing both Fulham and Celtic, has been linked with a move away from Lyon for a few weeks and it looks like United are hoping to keep him away from other potential suitors by making their move.
The 22-year-old scored 23 goals in 51 games last season (combined between both Celtic and Lyon) and his performances have seemingly impressed United enough that they’ve made an offer.
There’s no word on how strong Liverpool’s interest in the Frenchman is, or was, but that might not matter anyway if he does move to Old Trafford.
