Liverpool began their 2019 pre-season campaign with a comfortable 6-0 win over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.
Rhian Brewster scored a brace in the first half, while Nathaniel Clyne opened the scoring on the day. After the break, Curtis Jones, Divock Origi and Bobby Duncan scored the goals to lead the Reds to a romping victory.
Manager Jurgen Klopp named quite a strong line-up for the first half of this game, with the likes of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Clyne, Simon Mignolet and Adam Lallana featuring.
In the second half though, there were more youngsters involved, along with few senior players – namely Fabinho, Joel Matip and Divock Origi thrown in the mix.
Clyne opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a hammer of a finish. Brewster then netted two goals, both of them showing his finishing prowess, in space of seven minutes just before half-time.
Curtis Jones added to the goal tally with a cute finish at the back post in the 53rd minute. Origi made it five around the hour mark with a good take and finish. Duncan scored the last goal of the game in the 67th minute with a poacher’s finish.
