Liverpool continued their preparations for their pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund later this evening with an open training session in front of their supporters at Notre Dame University on Thursday.
The players were put through their paces before mingling with supporters ahead of the game with Jurgen Klopp’s former side.
Here’s what we learned from the session.

No issues for Ox
Coming back from a serious injury is never easy, and there had been some thoughts that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may not be at full pelt at this point of pre-season, but that is not the case. Ox looked great at the session and was flying around like his usual self.
Clyne shows his worth
Nathaniel Clyne has almost become a forgotten man at Liverpool, but a player of his quality and pedigree shouldn’t be ignored. He looked very good in the session and gave a reminder that he certainly could have a part to play with the Reds this season.
Lallana as a number six
It looks like Adam Lallana, if he has any part to play for the Reds this season, could find himself in a deeper role. Whilst questions about his defensive positioning are valid, what was clear from the session is that the England star is still as good as ever when it comes to his pressing and his ability to play on the turn.
Van Dijk as good as ever
As part of the session, the teams played an 11 v 11 game and, as usual, Virgil van Dijk stood out. The American fans were singing his song as the Dutchman sprayed passes in his usual manner, while he didn’t put a foot wrong defensively.
