Liverpool are planning to sign a first-team player this summer
All of the noises around Liverpool in recent weeks have suggested that the Reds have no intentions of signing any first-team ready players this summer, but according to the reliable Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph, that might not be the case.
Bascombe reports that the European Champions do intend to make a first-team signing in this transfer window, which, if true, will bring a lot of comfort to supporters.
Liverpool had an amazing 2018/19 campaign, achieving 97 points in the Premier League as well as winning the Champions League.
However, supporters are all too aware that Liverpool have gotten themselves into favourable positions in the past and have failed to go again the next season.
Liverpool’s first eleven is as strong as anything that any club in Europe has to offer but there are concerns about squad depth in certain areas, so it will be interesting to see which position, or positions, they will target between now and the closing of the transfer window.
The Reds will continue on their US tour this week without some of their big guns like Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, so the fringe players in the squad will get another chance to impress against Sporting Lisbon in New York on Wednesday evening.
