Liverpool’s players were put through their paces by Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff at Evian on Friday morning as they continued their preparations ahead of the new season.
The Reds face Manchester City in the Community Shield this Sunday, and before flying home, the squad took part in another session in France.
Here’s what we learned from the session:
Naby Keita looked sharp
Naby Keita clearly wasn’t 100% fit during the AFCON this summer and there were worries that he’s come back from his break still feeling the effects of the leg injury that caused him issues at the end of the last campaign. However, the Guinean looked in good shape in his cameo against Lyon and in the latest session, he seemed to be moving very well. He might not have the match fitness to start on Sunday but he should be in contention for the start of the Premier League campaign.
More work for Wilson
Harry Wilson scored a wondergoal against Lyon on Thursday and whilst his future is still seemingly undecided, the Welshman was kept around the squad in France as a few of the other youngsters were sent back to train with the U23’s. Wilson did not look out of place at the session and there’s definitely a possibility that he stays with the Reds this season.
Adam Lallana in great shape
Adam Lallana’s career at Liverpool has been blighted by injury but he looked really lean and muscular at the session. It looks like he could be about to change positions to more of a deep-lying midfielder and Liverpool will hope that the change, added to what looks like a more impressive physique, will help the England international stay fit.
Brewster not lacking in confidence
Some young players could get overwhelmed when joining in Rondo sessions with senior professionals, but that wasn’t the case for Rhian Brewster. The young striker was quick to show off some silky flicks and skills and wasn’t scared to have a laugh and joke at the expense of a few of his more senior teammates either!
