In the eyes of many, Liverpool and Manchester City are the two best teams in Europe at the moment.

The Reds are the reigning European champions, while City edged them out in the Premier League title race last season, on their way to 98 points.

Everyone has an opinion on who is the best out of the two rivals, but Jurgen Klopp had no doubt when speaking to reporters on Monday, claiming Pep Guardiola’s men lead the way:

We cannot be the best team in Europe because Manchester City are the best team in the world – and that is the same planet I’ve heard.

These Liverpool supporters have been reacting to Klopp’s comments, with some calling it mind games on the German’s part.

Whether or not Klopp is playing mind games is up for debate – in fairness, he is often brutally honest in his opinions.

It’s clear that he has total faith in his own side, but equally, City are a remarkable outfit in their own right, winning back-to-back Premier League titles.

On current form, Liverpool are probably the cream of the European crop, especially following City’s shock defeat at Norwich City last weekend.

A Premier League crown would cement that reputation, but the reigning champions will be incredibly difficult to get the better of.

City could do with a European title of their own, though, before they can be labelled as truly great across the continent.
