Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has compared current winger Sadio Mane to club legend John Barnes, according to a report on Goal.

Since Mane made the move to the Reds for just over £30 million in 2016, he hasn’t looked back, scoring fifty goals in just one hundred appearances.

With having such an impressive return, he’s received praise from many of the footballing world including former Liverpool centre-back Carragher. He said:

Even after the first couple of games, I said Mane, probably along with Raheem Sterling, was possibly the best left winger in the world.

I absolutely love him, he’s my favourite player at the club. He’s brilliant, he’s always got a smile on his face, always there, always gets knocked about, gets goals, setting others up.

Carragher will be hoping Mane will be in good form against out-of-form Manchester United next week and make it eighteen matches unbeaten – equalling the record.

Is Mane really world-class?

Absolutely. His record speaks for itself and he is one of the most underrated players in world football.

Mane is a consistent performer for the Reds and is probably Jurgen Klopp’s most important player at the moment, which is saying something, especially with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino in the side.

There can’t be many who disagree with Carragher’s comments.
