David de Gea starts for Manchester United
Earlier this week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that there way no way that David de Gea would be fit to face Liverpool at Old Trafford, but just a few days later, the Spaniard has been named in the starting line-up to face the Reds.
It looked like United would be forced to play back-up Sergio Romero for the clash between England’s two most successful sides, but De Gea, just days after picking up an injury on international duty, has been declared fit to play and as such, he takes his place between the sticks for United.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have an injury issue of their own as Mohamed Salah has not recovered from his ankle injury in time for the game, so Divock Origi has taken his place in the Reds’ front three.
De Gea isn’t the only goalkeeper returning from injury too. Liverpool’s number one Alisson has also been passed fit and will start for the first time since he went off injured against Norwich on the first day of the season.
