Liverpool made approach to sign Leroy Sane
Liverpool reportedly asked Leroy Sane if he’d be interested in making a move to Anfield rather than to Bayern Munich, according to report from the usually reliable Christian Falk of BILD.
True: @LFC was interested in @LeroySane19. BUT: @LeroySane19 knows that as a player from @ManCity cannot switch to @LFC . he wouldn't do that to fans. therefore the transfer was never an option for him. moreover: @LeroySane19 only wants to go to @FCBayern https://t.co/LpGHPo7XSa

Sane has been linked with a summer transfer to Bayern Munich and it appears that the German international is keen to make a switch back to his homeland.
However, City and Bayern have yet to agree to terms on a transfer fee for the winger and as such, no move looks immediately imminent.
With Sane about to enter the final year of his contract, City need to make a decision about the player’s future and it’s looking like they will be forced to sell him to Bayern.
Liverpool, however, apparently asked Sane to ignore the interest of the German champions and instead, make what would be a blockbuster move to Anfield.
Sane, though, refused to consider this as an option as he did want to upset Man City, or their supporters, by making a transfer to their direct rivals.

Even approaching Sane was quite audacious from Liverpool, but the question was at least worth asking.
Perhaps Jurgen Klopp or the club felt that the German could be tempted to come and play under his fellow countryman, which could make some sense.
However, Sane owes City a lot as they’ve helped him develop from a promising young player into a top-quality winger, so it’s understandable that he didn’t want to make a switch that would leave the reigning league champions feeling even more upset and angry at him than they likely currently do as he’s continued to push for a move to Bayern.
