Liverpool eye summer swoop for Nicolo Zaniolo
Liverpool are eyeing a potential summer swoop for AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo, according to a report from TMW, as cited by The Express.
Liverpool have had great success when making signings from Roma in the recent past, as they brought in both Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker from the Italian club. Both of those players have gone on to become some of the best players in the world at their respective positions.
Zaniolo didn’t arrive in Rome until 2018, so he never played alongside either Salah or Alisson as both were already at Liverpool by that point. However, just like those two players, the attacking midfielder has impressed for Roma and has seemingly caught the eye of Liverpool’s scouting team.
Aged 20, Zaniolo has already been capped five times by Italy and he’s scored two international goals for them too.
TMW report that Zaniolo is available to any interested parties for £40m.

The last time Liverpool signed an attack-minded player from Roma, they got a player who went on to have one of the greatest debut seasons in Premier League history as Mo Salah broke the league record for goals in a 38 game season.
Whilst it would be unfair to expect Zaniolo to meet those standards, Liverpool fans could be excited by his arrival as Roma has clearly been a good club for the Reds to make purchases from.
Even with transfer fees potentially set to fall this summer, £40m for an Italian international with such a bright future seems to be a fair asking price and this is a move that we think the Reds should go for.
