Liverpool are looking to sign both Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk down to new contracts this summer, according to reports.

Van Dijk arrived at Liverpool in January 2018, with Alisson arriving the following summer and it’s fair to say that they’ve both been excellent additions to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Alisson was voted as the best goalkeeper in the world at the end of 2019, whilst Van Dijk was the runner-up in the Ballon d’Or voting, narrowly missing out on the top prize to the amazing Lionel Messi.

The duo were key players in Liverpool’s Champions League win last season and although Alisson has been injured this year, both he and Van Dijk have played major parts in this year’s league campaign, which will almost certainly result in the Reds winning the Premier League title.

Alisson is currently under contract to 2024 whilst Van Dijk’s runs to 2023, but Liverpool are keen to reward the duo and extend those deals.

After finally finding themselves the world-class goalkeeper and defender they’d long been searching for, it’s no surprise to see that the Reds want to tie them both down with contract extensions.

Smart football clubs get deals done early with their best players to avoid top players reaching the final 12 months of their contracts.

Alisson and Van Dijk are two fundamental pieces to Liverpool’s plans going forward and having them tied down for the long-term will not only keep the pair happy, but it will also mean that the Reds are better set up for long term success.
