Liverpool are interested in signing 17-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo van der Laan and according to Football Insider, Arsenal are also said to be chasing the rising star.

Laan plays for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Belenenses SAD, although he has only represented the Under 23 team, doing so on four occasions during the 2019/20 campaign.

The youngster has also made appearances for Portugal’s Under 18 side and has quickly made a name for himself in Europe with his performances attracting the attention of scouts from some of the biggest clubs around the continent.

The Reds already boast plenty of talented young keepers having signed Jakub Ojrzynski from Legia Warszawa last term, as well as 16-year-old Fabian Mrozek, who recently joined from Poland.

These two Polish starlets joined Kamil Grabara a third native Polish goalkeeper, on Liverpool’s books whilst Klopp also has Irish stopper Caiomhin Kelleher, in his squad, although he could gain valuable experience away from the club on loan in 2020/21.

With such an embarrassment of riches in the goalkeeping department, starting with arguably the best in the world in Alisson, it’s difficult to comprehend how important another young goalkeeper signing might be, especially when the chances of anybody ousting the Brazilian are slim to none.

However, if he’s being touted as potentially one of the next best around, then its nice to know the Reds are in the running.
