Liverpool have joined the race for Sampdoria centre-back Omar Colley, who has a £10.8 million release clause in his current contract, according to SampNews24.
Known for their ability to spot a bargain, the men in charge of the Reds recruitment may be looking to land the improving Gambian at an affordable price.
At 27-years-old, Colley isn’t necessarily one for the future, however, the strong defender has risen to prominence dramatically in recent seasons and now Jurgen Klopp could look to make him his latest squad addition.
Having spent much of his early career in the non-elite European leagues, Colley got his move to Serie A in 2018 after impressing for Belgian club Genk.
Now, having made 52 Italian top-flight appearances in two seasons with Sampdoria, Colley could be set to make his next forward step in his career.
Earlier in the summer, the Reds were thought to be in the market for a fourth choice central defender following the departure of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg.
The need had seemingly subsided with the emergence of 17-year-old powerhouse Billy Koumetio in pre-season, although a deal representing such little outgoing is likely to be strongly considered.
It is unknown whether Colley himself would consider joining the Premier League champions to become the fourth option having been a regular starter in Italy.
