Former Liverpool midfielder John Welsh has urged his former club to add to their incoming Thiago Alcantara signing by making a move for Wolves star Adama Traore.

Now 36 years old and playing for Stafford Rangers, Welsh took to Twitter to praise the signing of the Spanish midfielder and hinted at the Reds’ need for a ‘forward/winger’ before naming his ideal arrival.

Welsh, a local lad who joined Liverpool as a 10-year-old before making his debut in 2002 against Ipswich Town, signed off his Tweet with ‘A. Traore’ – a nod towards Wolves’ explosive winger.

The 24-year-old Spaniard made a big impact last year after struggling to find his way previously at Barcelona, Aston Villa, and Middlesbrough.

Having found a home at Molineux, Traore’s frankly terrifying pace and strength caused numerous defensive, including Liverpool’s own, a torrid time last season.

Traore scored four goals and assisted nine during the 2019/20 Premier League, his most productive season to date, and that form has attracted many plaudits.

Whilst no interest has been registered to date, outside of Jurgen Klopp’s kind words, the prospect of Traore in this current Liverpool squad – with the imminent addition of Thiago, is certainly a mouth-watering thought.

Welsh may well be just another Red dreaming of ideal signings but aren’t we all!? The difference being the Wavertree born midfielder got to represent the club on 10 occasions before moving on.
