Liverpool welcome Ajax to Anfield on Tuesday evening, knowing a win will send them into the Champions League knockout rounds.
The Reds will be looking to respond from last week’s defeat at home to Atalanta, as well as the draw with Brighton on Saturday.
Picking a Liverpool team is extremely difficult at the moment, but here’s how we think Jurgen Klopp’s men will line-up on Tuesday…
Alisson
Alisson is priceless to this Liverpool side and he will again be key against Ajax.
With the defence looking shaky at times, the Brazilian’s presence is vital.
Neco Williams
Williams looked out of his depth at Brighton, conceding the penalty that Neal Maupay missed.
He is the only available option at right-back, however, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner both out.
Joel Matip
Matip should hopefully come back in after being rested over the weekend.
The 29-year-old’s form has been excellent, when fit, and the hope is that he will again be immaculate on Tuesday.
Fabinho
Fabinho is expected to continue at centre-back, where he is doing an admirable job.
He may need rest at some point, but that is unlikely to happen in an important Champions League clash.
Andy Robertson
Robertson is another who cannot afford to be overplayed, but he looks set for another start at Anfield.
Kostas Tsimikas is still taking time to settle, and with other key defenders out, the Scot is too influential not to play.
Jordan Henderson
Henderson made a welcome return from the substitutes’ bench on Saturday and we think will start this time around.
The Liverpool skipper’s industry, quality and leadership will all be crucial, as the Reds look to reach the last-16.
Gini Wijnaldum
Henderson being back would allow Wijnaldum to play a slightly more attack-minded midfield role, should Klopp go with a 4-3-3 formation.
The Dutchman has been colossal of late, playing endless minutes while those around him get injured.
Curtis Jones
Jones only came on late at Brighton, paving the way for more of a starring role on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old should be refreshed, so this is a great opportunity for him to further outline his class.
Mohamed Salah
Salah was unhappy to be taken off at the weekend, meaning he could be revved-up against Ajax.
There is a slim chance that he could be rested, but his world-class end product is needed on a big night.
Sadio Mane
Mane didn’t start away to Brighton, meaning he is almost certain to feature prominently this time around.
The Senegalese has suffered a tiny dip in form, by his incredible standards – Liverpool need him back to his very best.
Roberto Firmino
We think Diogo Jota might start on the bench, meaning Firmino leads the line.
Liverpool’s No.9 is still searching for his top level, so the pressure is on against Ajax.
It could be that Klopp plays all four of his attacking quartet, however, or starts Jota and rests one of Salah or Firmino instead.
