There was yet more misery for Liverpool at the start of 2021 as the Reds went crashing out of the FA Cup at the fourth round stage against bitter foes Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Despite the result, there were positives for Jurgen Klopp to take from the performance as the Reds showed improvements from their recent run of form, with Mohamed Salah looking especially sharp in front of goal once again.

Unfortunately, the central defensive quandary continued to cause issues for Klopp’s side as teenager Rhys Williams missed an opportunity to clear prior to United’s second goal.

Liverpool’s recent FA Cup successes, or rather lack thereof, means elimination from the competition won’t sting for too long, albeit against their greatest rivals.

With vital Premier League clashes on the horizon and the Champions League coming back into focus, the English champions can’t afford to feel sorry for themselves for long.
