Yesterday marked a huge moment in the history of football in this country.

After their initial announcements, the six Premier League clubs involved in the European Super League withdrew.

Liverpool last night released a statement on their official Twitter page, stating their involvement has now been discontinued.

The clubs owner, John W Henry, also addressed the fan base with a video apologising for his and his teams actions.

However, former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness reckons there is no way back for the owners at the club…

Souness believes the damage done by FSG and Henry will be unforgivable for Liverpool fans.

It is fair to say that you have to agree with his commentss.

The Liverpool fans were already disgraced by the decision and a half-hearted apology won’t be enough to undo their damage.

Liverpool has always been a club for the people, a club about equal opportunity, and a club about hard work and dedication.

The Super League proposal disregards every aspect of this and I am glad that the Reds are no longer associated.

Souness is spot on with his comments and he understand how much this has hurt the fan base.

FSG have tarnished their time at the club with this senseless act of greed.

Just a week ago their tenure at Liverpool owuld have been remembered for the Champions League and Premier League titles.

Now, it has been stained by their need to eliminate the competition line their pockets.
