# Adrian could stay put at Liverpool this summer, claims Pearce

Adrian could remain as Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper next season, according to [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/1696927/2020/03/24/what-does-the-future-hold-for-liverpools-youngsters-tue-24-mar-3pm-uk/)‘s James Pearce.

The Spaniard joined the Reds last summer, replacing Simon Mignolet as Alisson’s deputy.

After a bright start, Adrian has come under fire recently, following high-profile errors against Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

Despite this, Pearce has hinted that the 33-year-old may not be moved on this summer, during a [Q&A](https://theathletic.co.uk/1696927/2020/03/24/what-does-the-future-hold-for-liverpools-youngsters-tue-24-mar-3pm-uk/) on Tuesday afternoon.

> The plan is for Kelleher to go out on loan next season. Despite Adrian’s recent errors, I’m not aware that Klopp’s in the market for another keeper.

> The back-up keeper role is such a difficult one to fill. I think experience is important, especially with the pressure/scrutiny of playing for LFC.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

While Adrian has not looked impressive in recent times, I still believe it could be knee-jerk to sell him. It is so difficult finding a top-class second-choice ‘keeper, as Pearce alludes to, and I still believe he is a solid enough option moving forward.

Let’s not forget that he has [won all nine](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/GamesPerSeason/1338-129) Premier League game he has started this season, also proving to be the penalty shootout hero in the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea.

Liverpool have been unfortunate that Alisson has missed chunks of the season through injury, but more often than not, Adrian shouldn’t be call upon.
