# Alisson urges Liverpool to stop conceding “stupid” goals

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has urged his side to stop conceding “stupid” goals.

The Brazilian failed to keep a clean sheet once again against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Reds fell behind to a Trezeguet goal following a set-piece and Alisson has admitted that he is starting to get annoyed.

As quoted on the [Liverpool official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/372010-alisson-becker-press-conference-liverpool-genk), he said:

> It always annoys me when we concede stupid goals – sorry about the word! When we concede in a stupid way, this annoys me and annoys my teammates also, because when we enter the pitch we always have a common goal – that is win the game and keep a clean sheet.

> When you keep a clean sheet you are closer to the victory, at least you have a draw. We can work better on that aspect. When you concede a goal in a difficult moment, in a moment that the team needs you to keep a clean sheet, the games become more difficult.

> So we need to work better on that if we want to do great things this season.

Is Alisson right?

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Alisson is spot on. The goal conceded at home to Tottenham Hotspur was also one that could have easily been avoided.

Clean sheets are hugely important to goalkeepers and Alisson rightly gets hugely frustrated when the opponents score, especially if it could have been avoided.

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit the goal was good, but many times this season, little mistakes have led to the Reds conceding. They’ll need to make sure they don’t put a foot wrong in their next league match as they welcome Manchester City.
