# Bailly could be available for Man United’s clash with Liverpool

Eric Bailly could return for Manchester United on Sunday, as they take on Liverpool at Anfield.

The 25-year-old has been out for a number of months, following a [knee ligament injury](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/eric-bailly-ruled-out-for-a-four-to-five-months-with-knee-injury).

The *[Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-handed-another-major-17564539)* report that Bailly’s comeback could take place this weekend, with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming the news:

> He’s very close. He might be back for the weekend.

> We’ve got a game arranged today for the reserves. Hopefully he will get 90 minutes so he might be ready for Liverpool.

It would be a huge surprise if Bailly returned to the starting lineup, in my opinion.

Having missed a big chunk of action, I think he could look horribly short of match fitness, up against arguably the best attacking unit in world football.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have been mesmerising together, scoring [201 goals](https://www.lfchistory.net/SeasonArchive/Goalscorers/127) between since the start of the 2017/18 season.

Harry Maguire should be available for Sunday’s match, having [swiftly recovered from a hip issue](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7872653/Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-confirms-Harry-Maguire-fit-face-Norwich.html), and I expect Victor Lindelof to partner him.

Liverpool go into the match as resounding favourites and I think they will pick up all three points at Anfield.

The Reds are now in a position where, in our eyes, are superior to their bitter rivals in every area of pitch – a role reversal from those dark days during the 1990s.
