# Bayern Munich have made contact with Firmino, claims journalist

Bayern Munich have made contact with Roberto Firmino’s representatives over a summer move, according to journalist Ian McGarry.

Firmino has become a hugely popular figure at Anfield during the Jurgen Klopp era, with supporters adoring his outrageous ability, strong team ethic and [eccentric personality](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yl_bnWEUNTw).

The Brazilian is regarded as one of the most [influential](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11929951/liverpools-roberto-firmino-joint-best-striker-in-world-says-kaka) attacking players in the world currently, so it is perhaps no surprise that there is reported interest in him.

Speaking on *[The Transfer Window](https://play.acast.com/s/thetransferwindow/a5a56bf8-0812-4df0-bb77-686dd3da663c)* podcast, McGarry claimed Bayern are keen on acquiring the services of Firmino, as part of a summer rebuild:

> Interestingly news is that Roberto Firmino’s representatives have been contacted by Bayern Munich in the last 10 days with regards to ‘would he be willing to leave Anfield?

> Would he be interested in a return to the Bundesliga? And would he be interested in becoming part of Bayern’s rebuild? Which of course they have been planning now since the beginning of last season.

> Firmino may fit in very well as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski who may well move on, potentially to MLS in the summer.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I still think Firmino is a strong contender for being Liverpool’s most important player, despite strong competition from the likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, among others.

The 28-year-old, in my opinion, epitomises everything good about this Reds side, whether it be his selflessness, creative brilliance or ability to deliver in key moments.

The way in which Firmino knits everything together is unrivalled, in my opinion, and it is only when he isn’t playing that you truly appreciate his genius. His level of intelligence is truly world-class.

For that reason, losing him to Bayern would be a crushing blow, although I expect him to stay put this summer.

He appears happy at the club, continuing to wreak havoc to defenders alongside Salah and Mane.
