# Benteke suffers thigh injury

Liverpool’s Christian Benteke could miss Belgium’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Bosnia on Thursday after [it was revealed](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/602384/Liverpool-suffer-injury-blow-Manchester-United-clash) that he suffered a thigh injury in the 3-0 home defeat to West Ham United.

This strain has prevented him from training with this international team mates.

However, according to [James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/liverpool-fc-striker-benteke-suffers-9966788), the injury suffered by the Reds’ new £32.5m striker is only minor, and he should be fit to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 12.

Pearce also reports that Belgium are hopeful of Benteke being fit for their tie against Cyprus on Sunday.

Liverpool would probably prefer that Benteke sat the international games out as they prepare for a huge clash with bitter rivals United, but that decision is out of their hands.

If for some reason Benteke’s injury issue isn’t resolved by the time the United game comes around, Danny Ings, who made his competitive Liverpool debut against West Ham, would be the likely replacement.
